Introductory Blog Post

Hello there! My name is Linnea Greer – in addition to being a student at UAF pursuing my BA in Accounting, I am also a full time AP/AR Manager at Greer Tank & Welding. In my free time I like to work and play with my 6 year old German Shepherd Dog, Cedra. I also get to enjoy the company of my two cats, Sebastian and Skorpion, whether I’m in the middle of homework or not.

I’ve never been much of an art person – I tried my hand at pottery and I enjoyed it, but I never pursued it past a summer of lessons. Occasionally I will go out to a first Friday event, but the extent of my art collection consists of the few paintings that my girlfriend brought when she moved into my house.

This was one good online collection of classical art that I was able to find for online viewing, Classic Art Gallery. My favorite piece from this gallery would have to be “I Sailed the Darkened Seas,” by Roger Budney.

  1. Hello Linnea! I work at the SOM front desk, so I see accounting students often. I wonder if I’ve checked you into an advising appointment before?
Your pets sound so fun! I only have one cat and a small (old and pretty sedentary) lizard. I can’t imagine how exciting it must be to have a big dog and two cats! Your home must be very lively. 🙂
I’ve always been curious to try pottery lessons. I don’t know if I would be very good at it, but I do enjoy looking at and buying the work of the pottery students here at UAF during their spring sales.
Your art selection is very interesting! It seems like it would be a lot of work to build a sculpture like that.
Anyway, it was nice to check out your blog; here’s to hoping we have a good semester!

  2. Hi! It sounds like you have some great pets. I used to take care of my neighbor’s German Shepherd named Murron. The picture of the upside down house is very mesmerizing. I wonder what the inside of the house must look like. I also do not own that much art, but I do like to go on Pinterest and look at different art. I have never tried pottery, but it sounds like it would be a lot of fun! I really like the paintings in the Classic Art Gallery. There are so many paintings! Another art web site that has a lot of amazing art is at The National Gallery’s website. Here is the link https://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/.

  4. HI Linnea,
The picture you uploaded on your website caught my attention while looking through classmate’s blogs. I could relate the picture to my post because I wrote my first blog on the art of architecture. Do you know where this house is located? It is interesting to see the bench on the roof and also how the roof is painted green to make it look like grass. How were pottery lessons? I am interested in pottery and was planning to take some pottery classes at UAF. I like to go to the farmers market to look at the pottery or go to the spring sales from the UAF art department. It seems like you love your pets. I also love animals, but sadly I am allergic to cats.
